Teachers Day in Thailand '

Since 1957, Thailand has been celebrating Teachers Day 'to honor educators and facilitators of learning across the country. Each year, on January 16 teachers' is celebrated throughout Thailand.

In 1956, Prime Minister of Thailand, Marshal P. Pibulsongkram, was also the honorary chairman of the board of the Teachers' Council. He has spoken to teachers across the country, said that teachers play a dominant role in shaping the life of a studentTherefore, students should love and respect their teachers. It also suggested that teachers should have just one day and should be used as an opportunity for students to pay respect and homage to their teachers.

It was Marshal P. Pibulsongkram who started the day concept of Teachers' in Thailand. He believed that the Thai people celebrated most auspicious day to honor their parents, living and dead. However, there was a day dedicated to teachers who werepaid the same respect as parents.

After this speech, many teachers agree with Marshal P. Pibulsongkram had to say. They felt that the day should be set aside when they are remembered and honored for their role in building and make wise and responsible citizens. Thus, the same year, 1956, the Teachers' Council unanimously decided to establish Teachers' Day and the company has adopted a resolution proclaiming January 16th as the Day of the Teachers'. Day first teachers "in Thailand wascelebrated in 1957 and was declared a national holiday in Thailand. On this day students who wish to perform religious activities and happiness to their teachers for the rest of the year.

According to Buddhist traditions, the teachers are as important as parents, if not more. Teachers Day 'is used as an opportunity to strengthen this and show appreciation to teachers for their work and lessons.
